SCANDAL INDEED! Embu County Youth Trust Fund

Governor Wambora issuing a cheque to a successful applicant

In response to some unfounded allegations leveled against Embu Governor Martin Wambora concerning the temporary stoppage of Youth Trust Fund disbursement, may it be remembered that the fund that was to be expected this December 2016 was not to be the first disbursement.

Last year, Embu County Youth Empowerment and Sports department was the first in the country to establish a youth empowerment plan which gave birth to the Embu County Youth Trust Fund which is a revolving fund with an inception capital of Khs. 9 million for phase 1. The fund targets young people within the age bracket of 18 to 35 years whose total population is skyrocketing  and  forms  the  largest segment of our population. This year, the amount was increased to Ksh. 10 million of which Governor Wambora issued cheques to successful applicants.

The Fund’s purpose is to create employment for the youth of Embu and provide youth entrepreneurs with capital for business startup and growth. The fund’s “Mission” is to increase economic opportunities for the youth of Embu through enterprise development and strategic partnerships. The  fund’s  “Vision”  is  to  be  a sustainable and growing fund, economically empowering Embu County youth.
According to Youth Empowerment and Sports CEC, the fund has been very successful and the beneficiaries have so far surpassed repayment target. This is a good gesture that youth can be responsible on matters financial management.

Secondly, Governor Martin Wambora has from his track record proved himself to be a man of integrity, with a burning desire to make Embu county a better place for everyone and not one given to petty politics of making the people suffer in order to gain political mileage.

Those alleging that Wambora put a stop to the second disbursement so as to release the money in the election year 2017 should really do proper research, whereby they will be sorry to realize that His Excellency did this after his Intel uncovered a plot to loot the money by some unscrupulous individuals. By having the money held, the governor blocked access to it for the moment hence safekeeping it. Logically speaking, wouldn't you rather receive the money later than expected than lose it altogether?

Finally, as we are all human, it's only good that we learn to give credit where it's deserved. How come these complainers didn't say a thing after governor Wambora issued cheques to the tune of Ksh. 9 Million in the first disbursement of the Youth Trust Fund early this year, some of which has not yet been repaid, and some mediocre characters have the courage to find fault while ignoring excellence?

Let's be honest to ourselves.
