COMPLIMENTARY INVITATION FROM GOVERNOR WAMBORA

I am pleased as I take this opportunity to invite you to the 55th celebration of Madaraka Day on Friday June 1, 2018 at Embu stadium, from 10:00am. On this esteemed national holiday, I intend to enumerate our achievements as a county, under my leadership as Governor. This message therefore is your complimentary invitation to the event.

TODAY'S WORD: REJOICE WITH THOSE WHO REJOICE and Mourn with Those Who Mourn

Embu governor Martin Wambora (center) with county first lady Theresia Wambora and other leaders mourn with the family of one of his security personnel whose mother has gone to be with the Lord.
It is written, 'Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep' (Romans 12:15). What could be more noble; and who could be happier than that man who has taken the Law of the Lord into his heart, so that he meditates on it day and night and lives according to the teachings therein. '...he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper' (Psalms 1:3). Glory be to God that there are still a few such men in the world today, one of whom is Embu county governor, H.E. Hon. Martin Wambora.
Governor Wambora rejoices with his supporters in the streets of Nyeri after the postponed hearing on 21 May, 2018
The other week when the man was forced to attend a court hearing on his appeal to a fallacious ruling by the High Court, he was captured on camera rejoicing with his supporters. The reason for celebration was that the date for the submissions was moved from 21 May to 5 June, 2018. This gave his legal team more time to tackle the seemingly endless challenges. Wambora's nemesis, Embu gubernatorial election loser, former senator Lenny Kivuti had attended the hearing confident that the ruling will be upheld so that the election would be repeated. Mr. Kivuti was later seen to be in a quagmire as he attempted to convince his supporters to stick with him albeit the disappointment.

Governor Wambora's relief was however short-lived as soon afterwards, one of his most trusted security aides lost his mother. As such, the man who has come to be referred to as the governor with the nine lives of the proverbial cat due to his tenacity, took a break from his busy schedule to go weep with the family. He was as usual accompanied by the county first lady Theresia Wambora and an army of his most ardent supporters. The gesture brought out the much loved but equally besieged leader as a man who lives and rules as per biblical teachings. As it is, Embu county continues to make headlines due to the myriad development projects being undertaken in spite of distractions by enemies of development. Leading among these is the Embu level 5 hospital which has been improved into a Teaching and Referral hospital under Wambora's leadership.

HEALTH IS WEALTH... Don't Be POOR, Be RICH!

A screenshot of a tweet by Embu first Lady, Theresia Wambora on the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula
"A healthy society is a wealthy community", said the Minister for Health in Embu County, Dr. Jamleck Muturi. The esteemed health executive did a good job of reminding the people to recognize the opportunities currently available in terms of health resources in Embu County today. To be POOR is to Pass Over Opportunities Repeatedly, said another wise man, while to be RICH is to Recognize the Importance of Conditional Health, added the author of this article. The words were part of his speech when he addressed stakeholders on the International Day to end Obstetric Fistula on 23 May 2018 at Embu Level 5 hospital. Between 18th and 25th May 2018, the hospital offered free treatment to women living with the condition, whereby thousands of patients recognized the importance of this offer and had their health restored. They were indeed made rich, courtesy of Safaricom Foundation and the office of Embu governor, H.E. Hon. Martin Wambora.

The free medical services not withstanding, let it be remembered that cheap is expensive and free is costly. As much as many may have benefited from the exercise, it is important to recognize the existence of other medical practitioners offering excellent similar but personalised services at a small fee. One of such places is Medspan Hospital, a private medical facility located at the rapidly developing Gakwegori area in the outskirts of Embu town, on Nairobi-Meru highway.

As the residents of the sorrounding villages of Kangaru, Kirigi, Manyatta, Gatunduri, Mutunduri and Karurina can attest, Medspan is one of the most visited and much loved private health care providers. This is attributable to the affordable personalised and quality medical services provided by the proprietor, Dr munene, and his friendly staff. Dr. Munene is a man known by many as a humble person, ever so keen on his patients' welfare.
Services offered at Medspan Hospital as advertised at the facility's entrance
At Medspan, both Inpatient and Out patient services are available. Also offered are comprehensive dental services, laboratory services, gynocological clinic, Family Planning and Ultrasound among many more. CITIZEN TV KENYA BLOGGERS SHOULD PAY KSH.5 MILLION OR BE JAILED

Fake news: A tweet spreading false information
So soon after the president of the Republic of Kenya assented the Computer Misuse and Cyber crimes Bill 2018, bloggers for one of the mainstream media houses could be first to face the law and be an example to others with similar tendencies.
The above post shared on the media house's official Twitter handle is clearly fake news. Claiming that Embu county has no governor is not only an embarrassment to the incumbent governor H.E. Martin Wambora but also to the county as a whole.

If the legal office of the county government decides to follow up on the same, heads are likely to roll. The little that the bloggers might have been paid by Governor Wambora's opponent to malign the county will be nothing compared to the fine they'll be slapped with when found guilty.

SIASA YA Social Media Imewekwa 'GOVERNOR'

A screenshot of President Kenyatta's tweet after he signed the Anti-blogging Bill 2018
Whether you take it literally or 'illiterally' as some are apt to, President Kenyatta's signature on the new Computer Misuse and Cyber crimes Bill 2018 is a double edged sword.  For one, all the tribal gab and hate speech that some bloggers had so notoriously capitalized on is now kaput! No more mudslinging, name-calling and publication of unsubstantiated information. If one must write something unbecoming about another, they will have to cite the sources of the information and the references must be credible. It therefore is not much different from the speed governors that the NTSA demanded of Public Service Vehicles to curb over-speeding.

On the other hand, online publication just became more prestigious as leaders will have to take responsibility for their writers. Now, which small-time politician will be willing and able to pay a fine of not less than Ksh.5 million for a careless blogger? This means that it is only the big fish (maybe Governors and presidential candidates) who will afford to maintain staff for their online publicity. Obviously, the law of Higher Risk - Higher Return will hold, so that only those in a position to defend their bloggers financially and morally are set to benefit from online competition.

Such posts and comments as below shall certainly be highly frowned upon:

MATTRESSES, IRON SHEETS, FOODSTUFF AND MEDICAL CARE AVAILED TO LANDSLIDE VICTIMS

Some of the goodies donated by Governor Wambora to the landslide victims

Even as the rains continue wreaking havoc all over the country, the victims of a recent landslide in Embu County found consolation in the man they elected as governor. Residents of Mutuangima and Mutuaitaru villages of Kyeni North ward in Runyenjes Constituency have a reason not to weep following a visit by Embu County governor, H.E. Martin Wambora. In an unannounced visit to the affected families, the God-fearing leader followed the teachings of Christ that when we do charitable works we should not let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. However, as it is hard to light a lamp and fail to see the light, governor Wambora’s good deeds to the victims have received criticism from enemies of development, as usual.

though suffering villagers
The eighteen (18) families were temporarily housed at Iriari primary school with the governor making a personal donation of sufficient foodstuff, blankets and twenty iron sheets per family, to enable them reconstruct their houses. He also arranged to have a medical camp established at the site to take care of the children and the elderly. Knowing well that it is better to teach a hungry person how to fish than to give them fish, governor Wambora resolved to get into talks with the management of Nyayo Tea Zone with the aim of having it allocate a piece of land to resettle the affected families. The organization owns expansive tracts of land around Mt. Kenya forest.

REVEALED! GOVERNOR MARTIN WAMBORA OF EMBU COUNTY SPENDS KSHS.102,000,000 …

A dummy cheque of Ksh.81,000,000

…on investment in education for Embu scholars and the facilitation of entrepreneurship by youth in business.

In spite of ongoing court proceedings emanating from a petition filed by 2017 election loser, former senator Lenny Kivuti, Governor Wambora carries on with his development agenda undeterred. The highly intelligent leader who has in the past wowed Kenyans by the sheer genius with which he overcomes barriers to his vision, clearly recognizes that the best way to ensure future prosperity for Embu County is investment in the younger generation.  Since majority of the youth are either in school or in business, bursaries for the learners and a revolving fund for the business-minded is quite in order. This will see to it that in future, the county will be full of well educated people to serve in the public service and successful businessmen to develop the private sector.

Governor Wambora addresses the people when he issued the bursaries
In this regard, the esteemed leader together with Assembly Education Committee members and the County Education Support Fund Committee disbursed some Ksh. 81 million in bursaries to 14,266 beneficiaries in Universities, Colleges, Vocational Training Centers, Secondary Schools and Special Schools through out the county. The exercise was carried out through the Department of Education and Vocational Training on May 2, 2018. While profusely thanking all stakeholders in education, governor Wambora gave a breakdown of the disbursement as follows:

1) Universities – Kshs.13,361,625
2) Secondary Schools – Kshs.42,959,453

3) Colleges – Kshs.10,070,000
4) Polytechnics – Kshs.6,793,902 and
5) Special Schools - Kshs.1,625,000

Chuka University and Kenyatta University were the highest beneficiaries with Kshs1,594,000 and Kshs.1,502,000. For Secondary schools, Gangara Secondary School in Mbeere North, St. Christopher Nembure and St. Benedicts Kithimu Day School in Manyatta topped with Kshs.885,000, Kshs.796,000 and Kshs.722,000 respectively.

The money will go a long way in helping bright but needy students in their pursuit for excellence.

The committee also considered a number of special cases, of which one was a needy nursing student who is a total orphan and paid one full year fee at Kenya Medical Training College. The student is a resident of Ruguru Ngandori Ward.

Governor Wambora assured all that his government will embrace ICT in service delivery; for the purpose of transparency, accuracy, generation of reports and availability of necessary information to propel the county forward.

Apart from the bursaries, a further Ksh.21 million will be disbursed on May 14th and 15th 2018 to young entrepreneurs who had applied for business funding through the Youth Trust Fund. This Ksh. 102,000,000 is just a glimpse into the proper use of money by the current county government. All those interested are invited to witness the disbursement, through the open invitation letter below:
