The health sector in Embu County seems to always be surrounded by some negativity. Most of the times, every single good thing that
happens either at Embu Level 5 Hospital or in the Department of Health gets
hounded by a certain group of people full of negative energy. This clique of
individuals seems to forget that there are two sides of a coin; they focus their
attention sorely on what’s going wrong and choose to completely ignore that
which is going right! Woe unto such pessimists, who mistakenly think that the
role of the opposition is to derail government functions so as to make the leaders
look bad in the public eye. For their benefit, it is prudent to report on the
free healthcare services presently offered to the people of Embu and surrounding
counties.
A while ago, extensive announcements were made by various
Embu County Government communication organs concerning a Free Medical Camp
program to be conducted all over the county. Subsequently, the event kicked off
on Monday 8th October 2018 all through to Wednesday 10th.
Having heard of his people’s cry about insufficiency of drugs in health
facilities, Governor Martin Wambora ordered medicines worth thirty one million Kenya
shillings (Sh.31, 000,000) to be distributed in all public health centers in
the county. The free medical outreach program, flagged off by the Minister for
Health Dr. Jamleck Muturi accompanied by other executives and officers was
carried out by 180 Doctors; some from the country and specialists from Belgium and Cuba.
Out of the targeted 3000 patients, 2000 were seen including over 500 children aged below five years. Below is a photo of Dr. Muturi attending to mothers and children.

All in all, a commendable job was done with support from
Imara MediPlus, Consolata Hospital Kyeni, County Medical Centre and Daima Sacco
who provided transport services. Another outfit that was of utmost help was
Collo Rescue team, a brainchild of Kirimari Ward MCA, Hon. Morris Nyaga (Collo)
that ferried 5 patients to Embu Level 5 Hospital, where medicine is free. Given
that Healthcare is number 2 in governor Wambora’s Big 6 Agenda, it is important
that you watch the video below, whereby Dr. Muturi speaks of good things yet to
come and many other noble exploits
executed by the team in the vicinity of Embu town; including Dallas Estate and
the informal settlements of Shauri,
Grogon, and Murandi.
