OPEN LETTER to Kenyans, Home and in Diaspora

A New Avenue for Disseminating News from Counties

This message is meant to clear the air, so we can not only put aside premature politicking but also make a new beginning in our quest to reap the sweet fruits of Devolution.

Democracy in Kenya today will hardly survive its present downward drift towards tribalism, nepotism and bubbling resentment if we do not shun the ethnicity bug. The notion of ‘us versus them’ is slowly but surely turning our politics into a blood sport. The willingness to believe the worst about anyone who belongs not to ‘our people’ grows on, thus shrinking our ability to solve problems together and seize available opportunities.

As much as we have honest differences, we need to do better through vigorous debates and healthy skepticism. In order for us to preserve democracy and keep our well of trust from running completely dry, we need to be less naive and avoid being too cynical. At the same time, it would be wise to embrace all things good. As such...

Our Freedoms, as enshrined in the Kenya constitution of 2010, are supposed to keep us away from the self-inflicted wounds we are likely to suffer if we do not reason out together. The clauses contained therein are not mere written words but pointers to equal rights and justice, aimed at the reduction of the gap between the rich and the poor in Kenya today.

Today, politically motivated changes are happening so fast, in an environment so covered in a blizzard of information and misinformation, that our very identity as Kenyans is getting challenged. In order to get back to the mission and vision of Devolution, we need to focus on what widens the circle of opportunity, deepens the meaning of freedom and strengthens community bonds.

Through positivism, humility and the consciousness to know that time is fleeting and power is not an end in itself but a means to achieve more noble and necessary ends, our leaders continue to show us that our common humanity matters more than our interesting differences. It is the key to the creation of endless possibilities, in a country worth living and working for; a country free and prosperous, peaceful and secure and constantly improving towards the prosperity of posterity.

May God bless Kenya, and bless all those who read and comprehend this message.

TUAMBIANE UKWELI; Is this so or not?

Lest nobody mention ethnicity, this is pure simplicity: as in, it's all out in the open! Who else says, "Hawa wasee hawachesi", then adds , "...simu zilisimwa..."

The accent itself tells you of the speaker's descent... As my grandfather, the late Jeremiah Nyagah would tell me, "The nine daughters of Mumbi were all impregnated by the sons of Kembu, son of Ndega and the father of Embu community.

Whoever got intellect to understand, let them get this! We know where we are coming from and where we are headed...
