THE GHETTO BOY Who Defied All Odds To Become MCA

For any economy to grow, it has so much to do with the person (s) responsible for the various dockets that contribute to the grand achievement. If they are result-oriented, energetic, optimistic and innovative, then great strides will be made in terms of development.

The recently re-elected Governor of Embu County, H.E., Hon. Martin Wambora obviously knows this very well as evidenced by the youthfulness and energy of his new nominees to the County Assembly of Embu.

In the next few weeks, we at  RasliMali Embu shall be highlighting the noble plans that the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have for the county, starting with the nominated MCAs then the elected before going further to cover the Women Representative, Senator, MPs and finally the Governor (The Executive)

Today we introduce nominated MCA, Hon. Martin Mwangi, a young and humble man who has, prior to his nomination, selflessly given his time, energy and finances in taking care of the vulnerable members of the society, specifically orphans and widows residing in the informal settlement (ghetto) of Shauri Yako, in Embu town.
Nominated Embu MCA, Hon. Martin Mwangi (third left) with the Speaker of the County Assembly , and others outside the County Assembly of Embu Chambers, after he was sworn in.

During an interview with Raslimali Embu, Hon. Mwangi shared some of the goals and objectives he has for youth and the less fortunate in the society. He pledged to represent the youth of Embu County by:

*Ensuring that Guidance and Counseling Forums are created to create awareness on drug and abuse issues.

* Seeing to it that youth's talents are well identified and nurtured, by lobbying towards the completion of the Embu Stadium, equipping the Embu Talent Academy and putting into place passionate and honest professionals to run the places.

*Partnering with NGOs and other institutions so as to create job opportunities for the youth and feed the disadvantaged.
Embu nominated MCA, Hon. Martin Mwangi shares snacks among orphaned children in Shauri slum, Embu, long before he was elevated.

*Partnering with the Universities and Colleges around so as to enroll the youth who have passed well for Degree and Diploma courses. Those who do not make it to college will be able to join polytechnics that will be well equipped so as to offer knowledge and skills to the Embu youth who can later on achieve their goals in life and give back to the community in turn.

*Advocate and push for the 30% tender allocated to youth, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) so as to ensure that the youth share in the Nation building.

*Ensure that the Uwezo Fund reaches to as many beneficiaries as possible so that they are able to better their lives and that of their families.

When questioned how he is going to overcome all the challenges facing the docket, Hon. Mwangi, who is a committed Christian simply said, "So help me God."
