IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW, This is What Troubles Embu County

Embu governor Martin Wambora addresses the press when he officially received the three Cuban Doctors who have been deployed to assist in the provision of affordable universal healthcare; one of the government's big 4 agenda. While many counties received two doctors, Embu County received three specialists due to the remarkable strides it has made in matters health. PHOTO|COURTESY
Residents of Embu County have a reason to thank goodness that on 8/8/2017 they elected as their governor, a man who tends to thrive even in the midst of crisis. Like other great leaders - once described on this blog as Social Optimists - governor Martin Wambora is a man who has seldom had peace since he became the CEO of this 'Land of Opportunities' in 2013. Social optimists, as earlier mentioned are those people in the happy position of expecting to be accepted. You will find that, generally speaking, they are.

A Social Pessimist is the direct opposite of a Social Optimist. Social pessimists face the dark side of what sociologist Robert K. Merton calls a ‘reign of error’. They expect to be rejected. Their expectation of rejection leads to the projection of colder, more defensive behaviour towards others, and this leads to actual rejection. They are the kind of people who will dish out very large amounts of money, not out of clean hearted generosity, but as a bait to woo people to like them. They will also do anything, including selling their own souls, to make lots of money sorely for this purpose. It is in this spirit that such persons sometimes attempt to pay off all and sundry, hoping to manipulate them.

The looks of the people around this man tell that they
 don't like him as such
All of governor Wambora's troubles emanate from the machinations of his political nemesis, the main opposition leader in Embu, who unfortunately fits the description of a Social Pessimist. In spite of all the antagonism, Embu County under Wambora's leadership has achieved quite some. Some  time back, his government did sign deals worth Ksh 300 billion in its second investment conference. According to the Daily Nation dated 16 April 2018, the deals inked between Embu County and various investors target investments in green energy, value addition industries, financial services, mining and manufacturing. Note that Manufacturing is one of the national government's Big 4 agenda. The investments will not only bring economic growth to Embu, but also create employment for the youth. Sadly, through the efforts of the social pessimist revealed above, Embu has seen a lot of political disturbance since 2014. What with the attempts to impeach Governor Wambora and his administration? The uncertainty caused by the failed exercise cost the county 700 billion shillings, because would-be investors went back on their pledges in fear of political instability. Just imagine where the county and the country at large would be were it not for this one man's selfishness.

As if that was not bad enough, after losing to Wambora in the August 2017 election, 'Mr. Moneybags' rushed to file a petition at the high court, where he is alleged to have scratched some backs so as to secure a skewed ruling. For the sake of Embu people's welfare, however, the incumbent governor challenged the ruling at the Court of Appeal, whereby judgement is expected in August 2018. The prayer of every person of good will is that the final ruling will bring an end to all the hullabaloo so that investors don't run away a second time. In the sequel to this article, we will bring you the list of achievements under Wambora's governorship albeit all the detraction. It may surprise you to know that it is the social pessimist who is under investigation by Interpol in conjunction with the EACC, and not governor Wambora as erroneously reported by some gutter press.

Justice Served, Victory Imminent for Embu People

Embu Governor, Martin Wambora seemingly reassures the county first lady during an Appeal Court hearing at the Supreme Court in Nairobi on 3 July, 2018. PHOTO|COURTESY
The morning of Tuesday 3 July 2018 was not only chilly whether-wise but emotionally too, mostly for the few fellows who accompanied former Embu senator to the Court of Appeals hearing at the Supreme Court in Nairobi. As for the multitude that was present to offer moral support to Governor Wambora, the attitude was different. The latter team was full of gusto, having confidence in the the competence of the incumbent's counsel to not only get Justice but also to deliver victory for Embu people.

Well, tension was rampant at the Supreme court as the bench of Court of Appeal judges listened to submissions pertaining to Governor Wambora's appeal on a fallacious ruling earlier delivered by the High Court in Embu several months ago.
Some of the moral supporters who accompanied Governor Wambora to the Supreme Court in Nairobi
It was satirical for every enlightened person present to hear the petitioner's lead counsel, prof. Ojieda attempt to introduce new evidence on election malpractice. It was indeed an awkward moment as the battery of lawyers went on a course to justify against themselves that the High court judge sitting in Embu had acted on 'lack of proper judicial knowledge' to nullify the 2017 Embu gubernatorial election results.

Judge Musinga put an uphill task on Prof. Ojienda's shoulders, asking him to name the 121 polling stations that his client, Mr. Lenny Kivuti claimed to have had irregularities.

In a show of proper understanding of law, Wambora's legal team led by the Grand Mullah, put it out that Judge Musyoka, sitting at the High Court in Embu had made his ruling without considering or bothering to know the names of the alleged stations. It was noted that the stations were neither known nor had they been presented before Court before.

Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi communicated to Prof. Ojieda, to his face, that the latter had no knowhow of the exact location of the said polling stations.

Accordingly, the conclusion was that:

1. There was no evidential basis for scrutiny of votes cast
2. There were no specific disputes
3. All of it was a fishy expedition of bloated ego
4. The High Court judge over emphasized on the margin, and that
5. When the judge found the appellate to still be the winner, he came with plan B, culminating to point 3 above.

At the end of it all, the court set the date of the ruling for 17 August 2018.

IS IT TRUE THAT LENNY KIVUTI AND GOVERNOR WAMBORA AGREED TO WORK TOGETHER?

Former Embu senator Lenny Kivuti (right) and the incumbent governor Martin Wambora exchange a handshake and a hug during the burial of National Assembly Speaker JB Muturi's mother on June 2, 2018. Senior government officials look on. PHOTO| COURTESY
Your guess is as good as mine, for it is written, 'Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God' (Mathew 5:9).

Whoever got ears to hear has heard and whoever got data to surf the Internet has learnt! In the wake of the trending 'handshake saga', former Meru governor Peter Munya and incumbent Kiraitu Murungi did the handshake thing in the presence of the president during the recent celebrations of Madaraka Day at Meru Kinoru Stadium.

The following day, amid unlimited speculation, kingmakers of Embu County predicted a Wambora-Lenny handshake that should work magic like it's doing with Uhuru and Raila. Tentatively, the burial of the late mother to National Assembly Speaker JB Muturi in Embu on Saturday 2 June, 2018 was expected to provide an opportunity for the two Embu gubernatorial titans' handshake. It is rumored that the two leaders agreed to put aside their differences; Lenny to help Wambora complete his second term in peace so as to get his endorsement in 2022.

YOUR EASTER STORY: THE AFFLICTIONS OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN are Many...

...but the Lord delivers him from them all.

As we remember the persecution, crucification and resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter, we are reminded of the above words spoken by King David many many years ago. The heroic ancient King of Israel recorded in his Psalms that;

'Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.' - Psalms 34:19.

As such, any wise person who seeks knowledge is led by the Holy Spirit of God to interpret the scriptures by relating what happened centuries ago to political shenanigans of today. Now before you imagine that I'm about to carry on about Kenya's Miguna Miguna, it is important to be clear about the meaning of righteousness. It is goodness, virtue, virtuousness, uprightness, decency, integrity, worthiness, rectitude, probity, morality, ethicalness, high-mindedness, justice, honesty, honour, honourableness, innocence, blamelessness, guiltlessness, irreproachability, sinlessness, saintliness, purity, nobility, noble-mindedness, piety or piousness. A righteous man therefore is one who exhibits any or all of these qualities. Mr. Miguna hardly possesses any of these.
Miguna Miguna (left) when he witnessed the swearing in of Raila as the people's president on 30 January 2018; the man's character is certainly the antonym of righteousness (Antonym means opposite)

If there is a man in Kenyan politics today who appears to be righteous is one Martin Wambora, the governor of Embu county. This man has undergone much persecution all because he wouldn't allow looters to play dirty and squander his county government's funds. He has however overcome all over and over again, till he came to be famed as the governor having the nine lives of the proverbial cat.
Harassed: Governor Wambora at Nyeri Law Courts
during his first Impeachment
Mr Wambora’s first impeachment attempt four years ago was invalidated by the High Court on the basis that the Speaker of Embu County Assembly then, Kariuki Mate and Assembly Clerk Jim Kauma had acted in contempt of court by allowing debate on the motion. The decision was upheld by the Court of Appeal. Afterwards, former Senator Lenny Kivuti’s running mate in 2017 elections, Mr Emilio Kathuri argued in court that since Mr Wambora’s impeachment was later quashed on the basis of the now annulled contempt of court allegations, the January 16, 2014 process stands. That way, Wambora's tribulations were brought up afresh. Nevertheless the court of appeal judges ruled that there was no clear evidence that Wambora acted in gross violation of the Constitution warranting his impeachment motion. Wambora was impeached twice in his first term but fought through his ouster bids to complete his first term.
Governor Wambora feels the heat of his tribulations

As if the afflictions were not enough, the Embu High Court in February 2018 nullified the election of Governor Martin Wambora on the grounds that it was marred with irregularities which undermined the electoral process. This was after his major competitor Lenny Kivuti, who got 96,775 votes against Wambora’s 97,760, filed a petition following the August 8, 2017 election insisting the poll was not free and fair. Justice William Musyoka ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct a fresh election in accordance with the law. The ruling came after the court had ordered a recount, scrutiny and examination of the votes on January 18, 2018 to verify the authenticity of the results declared by the IEBC, whereby it was established that Wambora had won by right. Governor Wambora has since filed an appeal of which the outcome is yet to be known. The hearing of the appeal is supposedly set to be on 21 May 2018.

Just as Jesus Christ overcame ridicule, assault and death by his resurrection on the third day, so shall every man who believes and lives by his Divine teachings be a conqueror. Governor Wambora, who is a firm believer is such a man, and as it is written;

'...in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us', - Romans 8:37

Conclusion? Wambora is bound to overcome again!

THIS IS WHAT LENNY KIVUTI's Supporters Were Caught Saying...

Some of the DEFECTORS who are known to have ditched the government for the doomed opposition
"Embu County Governor, Martin Wambora is a hard nut to crack" said one diehard to another ardent supporter of former Embu senator, Lenny Kivuti. The lady and gentleman, both known to have been 'eating' the politician, were overheard expressing their lack of confidence in Mr. Kivuti. The two gossipers spilled forth sensitive information on 'How to Eat Lenny's Money - Season 2'. They humorously admitted that they are in the opposition team only for the money. They were however quick to express their discontent with the discriminate manner in which the tycoon's cash handouts are shared out. They claimed that the 'rice' is usually eaten by a few select individuals while those who do the dirty work starve.

Embu opposition leader Lenny Kivuti before he decamped from
Jubilee Party
According to Intel from strategically placed political espionage experts, the two members of the opposition camp , the team has completely disintegrated. Former Manyatta MP Emilio Kathuri, who acted as Mr Kivuti's running mate in the last elections is no longer in 'Riceman's' good books. They added that if at all there shall be a repeat election, Kathuri would not be considered for deputy governor.

Governor Wambora; concerned about
the wasted time
It is clear even to Wambora's detractors that the incumbent governor is the true leader for Embu County. If you knew Embu before and after Wambora became governor, you will agree with me that were it not for unnecessary Court cases filed by enemies of development, much more would have been achieved by now. After all isn't it evident that the government is still performing in spite of all the squabbling?

WAMBORA’S LEGACY Could Live Forever, Courtesy of ‘Ciiko Airlifts’

Governor Wambora is likened to Tom Mboya visionwise
So soon after his appointment as Chairman to the Security and Foreign Affairs Committee in the Council of Governors, Embu governor H.E. Martin Wambora is already considering how the opportunity could optimally benefit the people of Embu. Being a visionary leader, he realizes that investment in human resources is the best way to ensure that in future, there shall be no shortage of highly educated professionals to provide labor and entrepreneurship in Embu, and Kenya as a whole. How so?
Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru drew
much attention at the Council of Governors
Conference

In economics, we have four major factors of production or economic resources, so to say: Land, Capital, Labor and Entrepreneurship. For land and capital to be gainfully employed, competent labor and entrepreneurship is requisite. The economy therefore needs a highly learned, exposed and experienced workforce to provide strategic, tactical and operational management skills now and in future; especially in future.

To that end, Governor Wambora is about to implement a noble plan, similar to Tom Mboya’s “Operation Airlift Africa”, some 54 years ago. According to an article in New African Magazine dated 26th January, 2014, between 1959 and 1963, Kenya’s political icon, the late Tom Mboya organized the airlifting of 770 young men and women from Kenya and nine other East, Central, and Southern countries to go and study in the USA and come back to shape the future of their countries.
Young Barack Obama, former US president, with his late
father; a beneficiary of the program
Airlifted to America aboard specially chartered BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) airplanes, the students were trained in the US to become everything from engineers and economists to agronomists and civil servants. They were really preparing, though, to become the future leaders of Kenya and fill positions in government and industry that the British would soon vacate.
Some beneficiaries of Tom Mboya's Operation Airlift Africa

Wambora’s initiative, possibly to be dubbed ‘Ciiko Airlifts’, is likely to be more effective as it will target a smaller population – Embu County. Beneficiaries will be the currently unemployed first degree holders in Embu, willing to pursue their Masters Degrees abroad then come back and serve their county, and country. That way, the soft-spoken but highly intelligent leader will be sure that when he retires in 2022, he will leave the county in competent hands - hands of visionary professionals who will steer the county towards the achievement of its vision, and keep the Wambora Legacy alive!

Story of the 10 VIRGINS In Relation To Investment

There is no clear boundary between peaceful demonstrators and looters; either way property is destroyed.

When on Friday 6th October 2017, ‘peaceful’ demonstrators allied to the major political opposition outfit in Kenya, the National Super Alliance (NASA), vandalized and looted Tumaini Supermarket in Kisumu, all people of goodwill were horrified.

‘Tumaini’ was SHATTERED! – But All Hope was Not Lost…

A section of Tumaini Supermarket in Kisumu, that was vandalised and looted.

…at least for those who had taken up insurance for their business ventures.

There was nothing much all the good people could do to compensate the loss, other than empathize with the victims and maybe ‘think of all those other businesses vandalized and looted in Nairobi and other towns’.

NASA demo in Meru where property was destroyed too
Only insurance could help the unfortunate business people who had invested their money in the various ventures. Like in the parable of the ten virgins, only those who were ready were in luck.

These are the few who had taken an ‘ALL RISK’ Insurance Policy that covers all losses arising from riots/strikes.

Anti-riot police clash with demonstrators where those business people without anti-riot insurance lost millions of shillings

LEADERS INVITE PROSPERITY As They CONVERGE for Thanksgiving Ceremony

Hon. Martin Mwangi (2nd left)
 with Governor Wambora (2nd right)
and other leaders on a past event.
For the first time since he was sworn in to office, Embu Governor, H.E. Hon. Martin Wambora is expected to make a public appearance as he graces a Thanksgiving ceremony for nominated MCA Hon. Martin Mwangi at Winners' Chapel on 1st October, 2017. Almost all other leaders who are responsible for taking Embu County to the next level in the next five years are also scheduled to be in attendance, as they all have much to give thanks for.
An invitation card to the Thanksgiving Ceremony, where all are welcome

Young Hon. Mwangi is well known in Embu town and its environs, especially among the under-privileged masses residing in the informal settlements (Ghettos) where he has been quite philanthropic in feeding and clothing poor families through Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Rescue Center, an organization he helped establish.
Hon. Mwangi serves the children

The noble gesture is likely to have a positive 'ripple' effect characterized by growth in terms of trade, investment and industrialization as it will provide a platform where after the major event, stakeholders will meet informally and brainstorm on the best way forward. Those who are given to faith in the power of prayer know that the event shall not be in vain, as it is written;

'...he hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: His righteousness remaineth forever...' and also 'Being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God'. (2 Corinthians 9:9, 11)

With this kind of leadership, prosperity can be expected in the land of opportunities, with investment and Industrialization going a notch higher, as the Lord pours favor upon the people.

This indeed is certainly a form of investment in divine intervention which, through faith will translate to growth in Raslimali (Resources) in Embu County.

THE GHETTO BOY Who Defied All Odds To Become MCA

For any economy to grow, it has so much to do with the person (s) responsible for the various dockets that contribute to the grand achievement. If they are result-oriented, energetic, optimistic and innovative, then great strides will be made in terms of development.
Governor Wambora (front row, seated fifth from right) in a group photo with the Speaker of the County Assembly, Hon. Thiriku, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Simba (standing, left) and other members of the County Assembly on September 5, 2017.

The recently re-elected Governor of Embu County, H.E., Hon. Martin Wambora obviously knows this very well as evidenced by the youthfulness and energy of his new nominees to the County Assembly of Embu.

In the next few weeks, we at  RasliMali Embu shall be highlighting the noble plans that the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have for the county, starting with the nominated MCAs then the elected before going further to cover the Women Representative, Senator, MPs and finally the Governor (The Executive)

Today we introduce nominated MCA, Hon. Martin Mwangi, a young and humble man who has, prior to his nomination, selflessly given his time, energy and finances in taking care of the vulnerable members of the society, specifically orphans and widows residing in the informal settlement (ghetto) of Shauri Yako, in Embu town.
Nominated Embu MCA, Hon. Martin Mwangi (third left) with the Speaker of the County Assembly , and others outside the County Assembly of Embu Chambers, after he was sworn in.

During an interview with Raslimali Embu, Hon. Mwangi shared some of the goals and objectives he has for youth and the less fortunate in the society. He pledged to represent the youth of Embu County by:

*Ensuring that Guidance and Counseling Forums are created to create awareness on drug and abuse issues.

* Seeing to it that youth's talents are well identified and nurtured, by lobbying towards the completion of the Embu Stadium, equipping the Embu Talent Academy and putting into place passionate and honest professionals to run the places.

*Partnering with NGOs and other institutions so as to create job opportunities for the youth and feed the disadvantaged.
Embu nominated MCA, Hon. Martin Mwangi shares snacks among orphaned children in Shauri slum, Embu, long before he was elevated.

*Partnering with the Universities and Colleges around so as to enroll the youth who have passed well for Degree and Diploma courses. Those who do not make it to college will be able to join polytechnics that will be well equipped so as to offer knowledge and skills to the Embu youth who can later on achieve their goals in life and give back to the community in turn.

*Advocate and push for the 30% tender allocated to youth, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) so as to ensure that the youth share in the Nation building.

*Ensure that the Uwezo Fund reaches to as many beneficiaries as possible so that they are able to better their lives and that of their families.

When questioned how he is going to overcome all the challenges facing the docket, Hon. Mwangi, who is a committed Christian simply said, "So help me God."
