REVEALED! GOVERNOR MARTIN WAMBORA OF EMBU COUNTY SPENDS KSHS.102,000,000 …

A dummy cheque of Ksh.81,000,000

…on investment in education for Embu scholars and the facilitation of entrepreneurship by youth in business.

In spite of ongoing court proceedings emanating from a petition filed by 2017 election loser, former senator Lenny Kivuti, Governor Wambora carries on with his development agenda undeterred. The highly intelligent leader who has in the past wowed Kenyans by the sheer genius with which he overcomes barriers to his vision, clearly recognizes that the best way to ensure future prosperity for Embu County is investment in the younger generation.  Since majority of the youth are either in school or in business, bursaries for the learners and a revolving fund for the business-minded is quite in order. This will see to it that in future, the county will be full of well educated people to serve in the public service and successful businessmen to develop the private sector.

In this regard, the esteemed leader together with Assembly Education Committee members and the County Education Support Fund Committee disbursed some Ksh. 81 million in bursaries to 14,266 beneficiaries in Universities, Colleges, Vocational Training Centers, Secondary Schools and Special Schools through out the county. The exercise was carried out through the Department of Education and Vocational Training on May 2, 2018. While profusely thanking all stakeholders in education, governor Wambora gave a breakdown of the disbursement as follows:

1) Universities – Kshs.13,361,625
2) Secondary Schools – Kshs.42,959,453

3) Colleges – Kshs.10,070,000
4) Polytechnics – Kshs.6,793,902 and
5) Special Schools - Kshs.1,625,000

Chuka University and Kenyatta University were the highest beneficiaries with Kshs1,594,000 and Kshs.1,502,000. For Secondary schools, Gangara Secondary School in Mbeere North, St. Christopher Nembure and St. Benedicts Kithimu Day School in Manyatta topped with Kshs.885,000, Kshs.796,000 and Kshs.722,000 respectively.

The money will go a long way in helping bright but needy students in their pursuit for excellence.

The committee also considered a number of special cases, of which one was a needy nursing student who is a total orphan and paid one full year fee at Kenya Medical Training College. The student is a resident of Ruguru Ngandori Ward.

Apart from the bursaries, a further Ksh.21 million will be disbursed on May 14th and 15th 2018 to young entrepreneurs who had applied for business funding through the Youth Trust Fund. This Ksh. 102,000,000 is just a glimpse into the proper use of money by the current county government.
