...heads of families are gratified, children are satisfied, everyone is mollified and God is glorified! Such was the scenario on Wednesday 25 July, 2018 when Ann Nyaga met leaders of farmers from various cooperative societies in Embu County. The occasion was centered on the presentation of a Certificate of Registration to various milk farmers' cooperative societies within Embu County following the successful registration of Embu County Daily Cooperative Union.

The exercise was carried out after Governor Wambora launched a free school milk program for pupils in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centers. This effort prompted the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries to join hands with farmers with the aim of processing and packaging milk for the prosperity of posterity.

The Ministry of Agriculture, under the leadership of Ms. Nyaga is planning to construct a milk processing factory at Ugweri in Runyenjes sub-county of Embu County, where a prime site has been identified. The ministry is currently working on the designs for building the multi-billion factory, already factored in the financial year 2018/19 budget. The flagship project is expected to not only empower farmers economically but also create employment and alleviate poverty.
