INSTALLATION OF SOLAR LIGHTING A GREAT BOOST TO BUSINESS IN EMBU TOWN

Embu County Governor, Hon. Cecily Mbarire has announced the completion of a new solar street lighting project in Kirimari Ward, aimed at boosting security and supporting economic activity during evening hours.

The project involved the installation of solar-powered street lights along Biashara Street, behind Magunas Dallas supermarket, and at the busy Miraa Market. The initiative is part of the county government’s broader plan to improve safety and create a more enabling environment for traders and residents.

Speaking through a Facebook post, Governor Mbarire said the lighting will allow hundreds of traders and shoppers to conduct business safely and conveniently after dusk.

The move is expected to directly benefit more than 300 traders operating in the area, alongside hundreds of residents who rely on the market and surrounding streets daily.

"The solar-powered system was selected to ensure sustainability and reduce electricity costs while providing reliable lighting. The governor affirmed that similar projects will soon be rolled out in other parts of Embu, emphasizing that the security of residents remains paramount," says the Governor.
