'TUTAM' Takes Centre Stage as Embu Promotes Farming and Culture
The word “TUTAM” appeared to have acquired a life of its own in Embu on Friday, as Governor Cecily Mbarire moved from an agricultural empowerment event to the colourful Embu Cultural Day at Nembure Stadium.
At the agricultural function, Mbarire announced an additional KSh16 million investment through NAVCDP for Dairy Cooperatives, Ward SACCOs and Community Driven Development Committees. The funding is expected to expand affordable financing, strengthen farmer organisations, modernise dairy enterprises and create more opportunities along agricultural value chains.
The investment builds on KSh15 million disbursed in 2024, bringing the two rounds to KSh31 million.
Then came the cultural spectacle, where music, dance and colourful traditions took centre stage. Leaders, officials and wananchi joined the celebrations with remarkable enthusiasm.
And wherever the Governor appeared, the two-fingered “TUTAM” chant echoed across the gatherings. In Embu politics, even fingers now seem to have discovered campaign arithmetic: two up, and the excitement goes up with them!
