'CIIKO ECHO'! - A NEW SONG for GOVERNOR WAMBORA.

An image of the CD, MP3 format of the song 'CIIKO ECHO'
Talk of a loved leader, Embu governor Martin Wambora is one. What with prayers said for him in form of a song by one Harsh Prophet, an artiste from Embu County?

The reggae riddim song has been classified as 'Lyrical poetry' with the persona as His Excellency Governor Wambora (those who understand poetry know the meaning of 'persona' in any poem). It means that the words in the song represent a prayer to Almighty God, said by the subject (persona) who in this case is Governor Wambora.

What has baffled many among those who have had the pleasure of listening to the new release, is the meaning of the second line. It goes like:

...Almighty God my father hear me now I pray/ If I just resist 'her' Satan cannot stay.../

The question is, who is the 'her' in this case, considering that whoever she is, is made to symbolize Satan?

The song is expected to play a major role in the incumbent's campaigns. To get the full audio plus lyrics, contact M-BOOM Media on 0729801581.

SOMETHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FORMER MANYATTA MP, NJERU NDWIGA.

Siasa za Embu, (politics of Embu) has been pre-dominated by news, updates and political intrigue on the main gubernatorial race contenders hitherto.

Therefore, as the August 2017 general election draws nearer, we start presenting to you other serious aspirants for various leadership positions.

Now, Embu county senatorial aspirant, Njeru Ndwiga has this to say:

It is with utmost humility that I hereby launch my quest for the seat of the Senator for our great county of Embu.

Our county has, in the last few years, experienced a lot of unnecessary political turmoil that has eclipsed the many and great opportunities that we as a county have available to improve on our status and living standards. We have let our development objectives fall back and allowed ourselves to be content with a situation that we can greatly improve.

I hereby promise to reverse this situation and bring back the optimism, confidence and trust in ourselves that we have always been associated with. Every child, youth, mature and aged person in our county should be able to look forward to each new day with hope, trust and belief that they will be able to achieve their dreams and aspirations; that their efforts will be recognized and rewarded accordingly.

This is the vision that I pledge to uphold and to pursue tirelessly as your Senator. Let my performance be judged more by results and less by words. I want you, as a voter in Embu County, to look back with pride and say that you made a wise decision on the 8th of August 2017 when you voted for Hon. Njeru Ndwiga as your Senator.

Allow me to systematially present the manifesto of what I plan to do and achieve for you, the people of Embu County from 2017 to 2022 and beyond…”

…to be continued in the next issue.

GOVERNOR WAMBORA IS NOW A SPONSOR OF SPONSORS.

Face side of the Jubilee Party nomination card
Of late, the term 'Sponsor' has come to be used fallaciously. So, before we get to the real definition of the word semantically, may it be known that the Jubilee Party has rolled out membership registration all over the country.

This time, however, things have gone really digital as earlier promised by the ruling Party. All members of JP who wish to take part in the nominations set to take place in April 2017, will be required to be registered voters with the IEBC, as well as be members of the Jubilee Party. To prove Party membership, they'll have to produce their government issue IDs together with the JP 'smart card'. The cards cost Ksh.20 each.

Now, while a number of politicians have hired 'Sales men' to peddle the cards, with some pocketing the proceeds, Governor Wambora has bought the cards for his supporters. Those who intend to vote him in during the nominations don't have to pay for their cards, plus they'll have a lot more to gain from the Party before the general election in August.

'THE GOVERNOR HAS BECOME THEIR SPONSOR!'

Back side of the digital card; with a unique serial number and bar code
After the April nominations, the cards will no longer be valid for voting but will still act as IDs for Jubilee members.

So, here are the various definitions of the term 'Sponsor':

  • One who assumes responsibility for another person or a group during a period of instruction, apprenticeship, or probation.
  • One who vouches for the suitability of a candidate for admission.
  • A legislator who proposes and urges adoption of a bill.
  • One who presents a candidate for baptism or confirmation; a godparent.
  • One that finances a project or an event carried out by another person or group, especially a business enterprise that pays for radio or television programming in return for advertising time.
  • A person or organisation with some sort of responsibility for another person or organisation, especially where the responsibility has a religious, legal, or financial aspect.
  • One that pays all or part of the cost of an event, a publication, or a media program, usually in exchange for advertising time.
  • A senior member of a twelve step or similar program assigned to a guide a new initiate and form a partnership with him.
  • One who binds himself to answer for another, and is responsible for his default; a surety.
  • One who at the baptism of an infant professes the Christian faith in its name, and guarantees its religious education; a godfather or godmother.
  • A person who vouches for another as fit for some post or task.
  • A person or group that assumes financial responsibility for some activity, and may or may not participate in its organization and execution.
  • A person or organization, usually a commercial organization, which pays the cost of an activity, such as a radio or television broadcast, and in return is given the right to advertise itself or its products as part of the activity.
  • A surety; one who binds himself to answer for another, and is responsible for his default.

From some of the definitions above, all those who support the governor's reelection are his sponsors. He in turn has become their sponsor by paying the cost of the cards for them, hence the title 'SPONSOR OF SPONSORS'

MASTER OF SIGNATURES, IS SENATOR LENNY KIVUTI

Even before the dust from the still fresh allegations about the fake list of Jubilee Party interim officials for Embu County settles, the man who has now come to be referred to as 'Mr. Riceman' or LK, is already doing more signatures.

Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti makes a signature, as his proposed running mate Emilio Kathuri, among others look on
But before anyone jumps to judge him, may it be noted that he already has recruits, who include his proposed running mate Mr. Kathuri, aspiring MP for Runyenjes Eric Muchangi - popularly known as Karemba and the incumbent Governor Martin Wambora's deputy, Ms Dorothy Nditi. All of them seem to have learnt the art of doing signatures as seen in the photo below:

KIVUTI IN TROUBLE FOR ALLEGEDLY FORGING JUBILEE PARTY RUBBER STAMP AND SIGNATURES

Aspirants' attention at the JP meeting was momentarily drawn away when the fake list hit the social media. The writer of this article (back, left) was present

In the aftermath of the recent Jubilee Party’s election of interim officials all across the country, a storm of a scandal seems to be brewing for Embu Senator and gubernatorial aspirant Lenny Kivuti. If the allegations leveled against the politician in the political grapevine are proven beyond reasonable doubt, the Senator, said to be filthy rich, may find himself answerable to charges of being behind the forgery of Jubilee Party’s rubber stamp.
Stamp and signature used on the second list

On 13th December, 2016 when the elections were held in Embu, Mr. Kivuti is said to have sponsored a large number of ‘fake’ sympathetic aspirants with the aim of getting them to be part of the interim committee, a plan that was thwarted by vigilant Intel. Upon realizing that his scheme had been uncovered, the tycoon is said to have boycotted the exercise. Elections however were peacefully conducted, whereby gubernatorial aspirants Cecily Mbarire and incumbent Governor Martin Wambora, together with Manyatta MP John Muchiri among other leaders showed a high level of political maturity by agreeing with each other for the sake of the unity of Embu county. The leaders unanimously agreed on an all inclusive formula of 5-5-5-4 whereby three constituencies produced five committee members each while the fourth constituency gave four, totaling up to nineteen as required.

The Senator however, rumored to have been involved in some other shady deals in Rwanda a few years ago, disputed the election’s outcome and vowed not to recognize the committee as authentic. To this end, while the committee met with aspirants for various leadership positions under the JP ticket on 11th January 2017, another list with different names for committee members hit the social media platforms. The said list, comprising of nineteen members, had thirteen names of persons well known to be ardent supporters of Mr. Kivuti. The other six persons in the list were duly elected members of the real committee. What baffled all and sundry is that this ‘counterfeit‘ list was complete with a Jubilee Party stamp that appeared rather genuine. When the matter was brought before the leaders at the meeting, they vehemently denied the second list, assuring the attendees that the only committee recognized at Party Headquarters was the one sitting in that meeting.
The first and original list of elected committee members

One Senatorial aspirant, Mr. Ruku assured the perturbed leaders that they will see to it that JP acknowledges the real committee, and in writing.
The second list that hit social media, complete with JP logo, stamp and signature

What added weight to the suspicion that the fake list had emanated from Mr. Kivuti is that during the same meeting, some people, also known to be of the Senator’s camp arrived with the intention of disrupting the meeting but were quickly overpowered and sent away. Thank goodness that the incumbent Governor Martin Wambora was in attendance with his security detail thus security was tight around the venue; Owoods Annex Lodge. The event, which was well covered by local media houses ended peacefully with the leaders coming to a consensus that they will apply the same criteria they had used on the previous election, to determine those who will join the committee at Ward level.

Investigations were also launched to prove the authenticity of the second list and whether the rubber stamp and signatures used to make the document look official were genuine. This signals desperation from the candidate and political Parties should not allow their offices to be maligned by people with ulterior motives.

EVERY WORTHY FATHER CARES ABOUT HIS FAMILY’S HEALTH, HENCE WEALTH.

Health is wealth. One of the greatest threats to community health is non-communicable diseases. It follows that any steps taken towards reducing the dire effects of such diseases, indirectly leads to wealth creation hence higher standards of living for the people.

With that realization, Governor Wambora, last year met with officials from Medicins San Frontiers, which is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, exclusion from health care and natural disasters.

A partnership between Embu County Government and the organization was discussed which will seek to support Primary Health Care Centers by integrating non-communicable diseases at the primary level. Strengthening capacity building for the Embu Health Care personnel to be able to diagnose and treat noncommunicable diseases at Primary Care level was also an agenda which will prevent almost 80% of complications thereby saving lives and cost of care.

Embu County Government has made major milestones in the health sector by facilitating Embu Level Five Hospital with state-of-the-art facilities like a new hospital complex, theatre rooms and equipment like, an MRI machine and 10 dialysis machines among others.
The completion of the mega hospital complex which will host an Intensive Care Unit and a High Dependency Unit with international standard features will put Embu County on the global map and significantly improve health care within the county.

Governor Martin Wambora of Embu County has therefore proved to be like a loving father to the people of Embu, as he has put health matters first, followed by infrastructural development and education.

No n - c o m m u n i c a b l e diseases are non-infectious which last for long periods of time and progress slowly and can result to rapid their duration. They are the leading cause of death globally where in 2015 they caused 68% of all deaths (38 million) up from 60% in 2000. Some of the risk factors associated with the disease include a person’s background, lifestyle and environment.
