ROMANCE, POLITICS AND LEADERSHIP; Embu County First Lady and Mama Margaret Kenyatta Have This in Common...

President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulates First Lady Margaret upon completing her 'Beyond Zero' marathon, last year.
...they truly love their husbands.

With the general election merely three months away, the electorate in Embu seems to be inclined towards the incumbent, Martin Nyaga Wambora's side. This is attributable to his performance amid unrelenting opposition from some members of the County Assembly in political sabotage said to have been orchestrated by his main political challengers; outspoken Runyenjes MP, Cecily Mutitu Mbarire and outgoing Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti.

Governor Wambora is a man whose leadership style can only be compared to none other than that of former President Mwai Kibaki, as mentioned in another publication on this blog. A man of few words but many actions, Wambora blends perfectly well with the saying, ‘Actions speak louder than words’. He has in consequence come to be popularly referred  a to as 'Ciiko' (Actions) Nevertheless, in all the myriad projects all through the County, you cannot overlook the input of the humble politician's wife, Her Excellency Theresia Wambora, whose unwavering support to her husband cannot be underestimated.

Mama Theresia is undoubtfully a woman of leadership as has been witnessed during her husbands tenure as the boss of the rich county that is commonly referred to as the land of opportunities. During Wambora's failed impeachment plot, Theresia, remained steadfast by her man's side, especially so in the corridors of justice as the charismatic leader was swayed by his adversaries left, right and centre until the court cleared him of any wrong doing, to their dismay.

The soft-spoken but parsuasive lady has been in the frontline participating in development activities in almost every corner of the county. One of her greatest achievements is the Beyond Zero campaign which was initiated by another woman of good deeds, Her Excellency the first lady of the republic of Kenya, Margaret Kenyatta.
Mrs Wambora (standing) addresses Her Excellency the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta (right) when the latter donated a 'Beyond Zero' ambulance to Embu County. Governor Wambora (centre, in matching suit) among other leaders, looks on.

Just like President Kenyatta's wife , Theresia has managed to remain conscious of her role as a first lady; being by the governor, who himself seems most likely to maintain his seat as the CEO of Embu County, if for anything, his development record.

EVERY WORTHY FATHER CARES ABOUT HIS FAMILY’S HEALTH, HENCE WEALTH.

Health is wealth. One of the greatest threats to community health is non-communicable diseases. It follows that any steps taken towards reducing the dire effects of such diseases, indirectly leads to wealth creation hence higher standards of living for the people.

With that realization, Governor Wambora, last year met with officials from Medicins San Frontiers, which is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, exclusion from health care and natural disasters.
Governor Wambora in a group photo with the officials
A partnership between Embu County Government and the organization was discussed which will seek to support Primary Health Care Centers by integrating non-communicable diseases at the primary level. Strengthening capacity building for the Embu Health Care personnel to be able to diagnose and treat noncommunicable diseases at Primary Care level was also an agenda which will prevent almost 80% of complications thereby saving lives and cost of care.

Embu County Government has made major milestones in the health sector by facilitating Embu Level Five Hospital with state-of-the-art facilities like a new hospital complex, theatre rooms and equipment like, an MRI machine and 10 dialysis machines among others.
The completion of the mega hospital complex which will host an Intensive Care Unit and a High Dependency Unit with international standard features will put Embu County on the global map and significantly improve health care within the county.

Governor Martin Wambora of Embu County has therefore proved to be like a loving father to the people of Embu, as he has put health matters first, followed by infrastructural development and education.

No n - c o m m u n i c a b l e diseases are non-infectious which last for long periods of time and progress slowly and can result to rapid their duration. They are the leading cause of death globally where in 2015 they caused 68% of all deaths (38 million) up from 60% in 2000. Some of the risk factors associated with the disease include a person’s background, lifestyle and environment.

SOLUTION TO 'CHRISTMAS CRISIS'

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta is received at Kyeni Hospital
The country-wide Doctors strike, which has now come to be referred to as the 'Christmas Crisis', occurred at quite a critical time; the festive season. The miserable situation in Kenya public hospitals is nothing to write home about, to say the least.
Situation at public hospitals

However, residents of Embu and neighbouring counties have much to be grateful for; alternative medical facilities allover the county.

Foremost amongst these is Embu Children's Hospital - TENRI and Consolata Hospital - Kyeni. The latter recently received aid from Project C.U.R.E., the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment in developing countries allover the world.

A Renal Unit at the institution was officially commissioned by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on 30th November 2016, as she also presided over the Handing-over celebrations of Medical Supplies and Equipment Container. She was received by Embu county governor Martin Wambora.

Mr Wambora has gone ahead and seconded three doctors to the hospital to ease congestion and serve patients better.

The medics will be paid by the county government on a permanent and pensionable basis.

At Tenri, there is an ongoing Diabetes and Hypertension clinic, as seen in the photos below:
Kyeni hospital is a missionary facility while Tenri is a nongovernmental organization (NGO).

These institutions may be privately owned and managed but have always offered better services to the general public than the actual public hospitals.

AS DOCTORS GO ON STRIKE, EMBU PEOPLE HAVE LESS REASON TO WORRY.

Diocese of Embu Consolata Hospital-Kyeni
It is now official that doctors allover the country are on strike. However, under governor Martin Wambora's leadership, Embu people have solace in the availability of excellent alternative medical attention, at affordable rates too, especially for those with NHIF.

On 30th November, 2016 governor Wambora, accompanied by his wife, Her Excellency Mrs Theresia Wambora hosted Her Excellency the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at Diocese of Embu Consolata Hospital - Kyeni,, where she officially commissioned a Renal Unit at the hospital, located in Runyenjes Sub-county.

She also presided over handing-over celebrations of medical supplies and equipment container donated by Project C.U.R.E.

While some may claim that this major development is private, it must be remembered that beneficiaries are the people and for the First Lady to find the time to come to Embu and celebrate with us, it took direct effort and influence from governor Wambora.

Even those who had been bribing Embu MCAs so that they may reject budgets for various projects so that the incumbent may appear incompetent, have agreed that this is good and some even joined the governor and the First Lady to celebrate the achievement.

KSH 889 MILLION FOR FREE MATERNITY ALLEGEDLY DIVERTED, BUT EMBU GOVERNOR MARTIN WAMBORA DELIVERS STATE OF THE ART MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO EMBU LEVEL 5 HOSPITAL.

In the wake of what has come to be referred to as the Mafya House scandal involving 5.3 Billion shillings, it has been revealed that some Ksh 889 Million meant for free maternity services has been diverted. It would have been expected that any corruptible person would have taken advantage and pocketed part of the loot, and blamed it on corruption at national level.

However, Embu governor Martin Wambora has proved his integrity by ensuring that the facilities priory promised to the people of Embu, have been procured and installed at Embu Level 5 hospital. These include an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a High Dependency Unit and maternity facilities as shown in all these photos.

Maternity services will be offered free of charge.

Beneficiaries, who happen to be voters, now have more reason to reelect Wambora as their Governor, come 2017.

ASPIRING MP FOR RUNYENJES, RAYMOND KINYUA (Rayie) SHARES PART OF HIS MANIFESTO ON A PUBLIC SOCIAL FORUM.

Embu County Secretary, Raymond Kinyua and wife Jane Roddy Raymond

This session took place between 6.00pm and 8.00 pm, on Monday, 1/11/16, with Ambrose Njeru and Njoka acting as moderators. For the sake of objectivity, we have published only what the aspirant, who is also the current County Secretary, said without including who asked which question:

Education:
A background check shows that most of our students are currently in Day Schools albeit not by choice but because of the high fees charged in boarding schools. Day schools is also where we have 100% of local student enrollment thus better performance in these schools will ensure a high transition rate of our children to tertiary institutions.
In this, I will come up with RUNYENJES SOCIAL BURSARY SCHEME  where all contractors doing business with the CDF will be required to contribute a certain %age of the tender value to the scheme as CSR towards Education. A representative of the business community will be included in the constituency bursary committee to oversight such funds. In addition, there will be an ANNUAL  Education support Harambee led by MNA which will raise more funds towards the scheme. This will be added to the CDF bursary kitty and used to award reasonable bursaries to the needy students both secondary and  tertiary levels of education.
There will be an annual award ceremony for best performing students and teachers for all our education institutions. This will boost the morale of our students and  staff to perform optimally to give best results.

Roads:

Much has been said about the poor state of roads in the constituency. If my bid is successful, I will introduce a department of Community Road rehabilitation and maintenance program, this does not substitute contractual works but sets aside funds for road maintenance through labour based contracts. Largely our youths will be engaged in the maintenance .The constituency leadership will work closely with the county Govt and make use of the graders in place and land bought to excavate Murram since we are serving the same people .CDF Will also set aside money where culverts will be moulded and used in the Rural Roads maintenance program.

Youth and Women:
CDF will set out a Kitty for women and youth economic support program. This will be a replica of the current Youth Fund which was my brain child as the CO for Ministry of youth and Sports. The kitty will finance business initiatives by the youth an women and repaid at low or no interest rates.
We will also use Talent development and promotion as a means of youth economic empowerment. We will initiate rigorous marketing of our talents and this will see our talented youth in different fields join initiatives, clubs and programs where they can get financial gains from their talents.

Water and Electricity:
To curb the constant water shortage issues especially in the lower parts of Runyenje’s, there will be introduction of local sources of water ran by the area residents. This initiative will sink boreholes and distribute water within a certain radius for both domestic and irrigation use. This will enhance food production and increase productivity. We will also maintain the existing water distribution framework.
In collaboration with the national government, we will ensure that power transformers are installed in appropriate areas where there is no connection. This will ensure that residents of Runyenje’s will be able to get nearby connection to the power grid thus enjoy the low rates of Rural electrification program.

Agriculture and Trade:

To promote agriculture in the area, we will introduce value addition to our agricultural products. We will also source for competitive markets to our products thus ensuring that our farmers are not exploited by middle men.
CDF will also seek to setup cottage industries based on the main economic practice in each region.

Benevolent scheme:
CDF will set aside some funds for purchase of a hearse and burial equipment for the constituency. This will be used to help the needy bereaved families who are not able to cater for a decent send off for their loved ones.

CDF Management:
I will ensure restructuring of the CDF management committee to strike regional balance and ensure equity. The committees will be devolved to the ward level to ensure that each ward has its development plan prioritized as per their needs.

I will conclude my presentation based on what I had said earlier that am ready to engage on any topic as long as am approached on the same. I don't want to digress further on this. I thank all of you who participated and gave their views. Let us make informed decisions devoid of sectarian and parochial politics. This country belongs to all of us. For those who want me to answer questions on my performance and my current position then I guess the administrators can set another day. God bless and goodnight.

"My government remains    committed to ensuring that healthcare services are accessible to all and at affordable costs"

GOVERNOR WAMBORA BLESSES THE CHILDREN, RAISES 1.4M FOR E.A.P.C CHURCH KANGINGA, RUNYENJES, EMBU COUNTY.

Embu Governor Martin Wambora blesses children.

Some of the stalled projects
Residents of Kanginga village in Runyenjes, Embu County and worshippers at East Africa Pentecostal Church (E.A.P.C) are a happy people following Governor Martin Wambora's visit. His Excellency, accompanied by first Lady Theressia Wambora, other leaders and his media team, graced the event and helped raise approximately 1.4 Million Kenya shillings. According to reliable sources part of the money will be used to complete some projects, which initially were under CDF, but stalled due to misappropriation of funds by the sitting Runyenjes MP, Cecily Mbarire.
The occasion was marked by an overwhelming air of tranquility and joy, in contrast to what was witnessed in Kevote, at NICA church where Cecily was heckled down by a contemptuous mob.

THIS IS WHAT DEVELOPMENT IS ALL ABOUT, LETTING THE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THEIR LEADERS HAVE ACCOMPLISHED.

So much good has been going on behind the scene, as far as H.E the Governor Martin WAMBORA'S government is concerned. Below is an excerpt from 'The County Review', an online magazine:

EMBU YOUTH BENEFIT FROM THE 2ND DISBURSEMENT OF EMBU YOUTH TRUST FUND
Embu Governor Press Service and Communication

H.E Governor Martin Wambora issuing cheques to Embu Youth Trust Fund Beneficiaries.
Last year, Embu County Youth Empowerment and Sports department was the first in the country to establish a youth empowerment plan which gave birth to the Embu County Youth
Trust Fund which is a revolving fund with an inception capital of Khs. 9 million for phase I.

This year, the amount was increased to Ksh. 10 million which this week Governor Wambora issued cheques to successful applicants. The fund targets young people within the age bracket of 18 to 35 years whose total population is skyrocketing and forms the largest
segment of our population.

The Fund’s purpose is to create employment for the youth of Embu and provide youth entrepreneurs with capital for business startup and growth. The fund’s “Mission” is to increase economic opportunities for the youth of Embu through enterprise development and strategic partnerships.

The fund’s “Vision” is to be a sustainable and growing fund, economically empowering Embu
County youth. According to Youth Empowerment and Sports CEC Emily Njuki, the fund has been very successful and the beneficiaries have so far surpassed repayment target. This is a good gesture that youth can be responsible on matters financial management.

HONGERA! EMBU FIRST LADY THERESIA WAMBORA ZEALOUSLY SUPPORTS KENYA'S FIRST LADY'S BEYOND ZERO CAMPAIGN (Photo)

First lady Theresia WAMBORA (in blue suit) has initiated, spearheaded and facilitated quite a number of noble endeavors though only a few have come to public attention. One of such projects is the equipping our hospitals with state of the art facilities, in her efforts to support First Lady Margret Kenyatta's Beyond Zero Campaign.
This blog is going to be highlighting such developmental projects as have not become public knowledge so that those who feigh ignorance concerning what Governor Wambora's Government has done may have no excuse but to concur with the majority that WAMBORA is the man!
